So happy to report that the footbridge to Good Harbor Beach is repaired and reopened. Kudos to the City and Public Works department for a beautiful job. The storms from last winter took a whole section of the bridge, it landed about 100 yards away from where it was suppose to be. Believe it or not this is a temporary fix. Plans are in the making for a bridge that can withstand anything Mother Nature has to throw at it. It won’t be cheap and it might not be pretty but it won’t break, hopefully.
Here is a link to some storm footage showing the bridge in peril. You can see in the first frames the bridge rocking and rolling in the waves. Note that it is far, far away from home. You can see where it came from in the upper right corner of the shot! Crazy! Good reason to visit Gloucester in the off season, our storms can be rather spectacular.
So, come on up to the Vista. Stay with us and you can park all day long on the day you arrive and the day you depart. Walk the beach, take a swim in our heated pool, change in our poolside changing room and make your getaway to Gloucester last as long as possible.
See you soon, I hope!
